Routes for 2022 announced

We are excited to announce all the routes return for 2022. Consider staying over for Sunday’s 20K Steamboat Challenge Time Trial on Sunday morning!

100K Route for 2022
In our surveys over the past few years, you have asked if there was any way to move the 100K route off US Hwy 277.  We realized that 11 mile stretch of road is very busy with traffic as well as a rough chipseal shoulder.  Therefore, we were able to maintain the 100K distance and use some nice county roads in southern Taylor County including a return to Buffalo Gap on some fun rolling hills through ranchland. Due to some construction on US Hwy 83, we’ll be making the loop past Lemons Gap Rd two times.  Check out the new 100K route here: All routes are subject to change due to conditions and current construction.

50K Route with a new route with less auto traffic
Usually the most popular route, a new one this year winds among the hills and the Lemons Gap area, returning through the Rode Ranch and by Abilene State Park to Buffalo Gap.

11 Mile Route for everybody and especially for families

New Time 20K Trial Route for 2021
For the Steamboat Mountain Time Trial, we are making a change from finishing on top of Steamboat Mountain, which we did in 2019.   This year we will have the start and finish at the Main Street Station that we have used over the last couple of years.  This 20K route will head north out of Buffalo Gap and incorporate the climbs on Belle Plains and CR150.  We are hoping that with this new route and not having “da Beast” to climb up Steamboat Mtn. will provide more riders for the Sunday morning TT.  Please keep in mind that we limit the total number of riders to 60; so be sure and register ASAP!
